My Soul

SteveOgun

How still the night cooled by a summer's breeze.

You walk silently through my dreams as though not to disturb my slumber.

Are you the face of comfort or is there misery, death and destruction behind the eyes of darkness?

We've met before many times.

I call your name and the silence is almost deafening.

I reach out, and you leave me nothing but your shadow.

No escape, but death.

Pleasure locked deep in the memory of my mind.

Waiting.

Hoping.

Spare me the key of solace, that I might find my way from this great abyss.

And illuminate my path to happiness.

I know your name, for we have met before; many times.

Leave my tortured mind, and let me rest eternal from that which would break my heart.

Love.

Throw to me a ray of hope, a drop of sunshine; that it may kiss my brow with tenderness.

And warm my rivers of blood.

Go now, for the lark is calling, and the lark must sing his song.

The cadence of my heart grows stronger in search of truth within.

Yes, we've met before; many times

Through the window of my soul.

For I am you, and you are me, and together we shall remain,

Forever.
