Burning

Jeffery Lee Palmer

Searching this world for a lover

I knew somewhere I'd find her

an emotional bond never severed

though feelings are shared through letters

I wrote you the story about the slitherer

A bull snake that was not venomous.

I bet one kiss from you is contagious

your love will surge through my veins

relieving any heartache and pain

I dream of holding your hand

as the water massages the land

the splash of water and birds sing

fish jumping as the water gleams

The sound of your breathing

quell the stress-building

in you, I found my meaning

We are both Godparents

we would make good parents

sharing a loving union

with a brand new little person

I hope we remain in each other's future

only separated by kilometers of nature

travel makes the distance shorter

our hearts fire forever, burning
