Notice of absence from Tom Dylan

Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

This poem will be number sixty
I don't know why that matters
but it seems rather significant.
Something of a milestone,
like completing a 5 or 10 K run.
A modest but personal achievement.
Why is it we celebrate turning twenty-one
but not twenty years old?
Sixty seems a nice round number.
The Sixty is the motorway ring-road
around the city I live.
I count the number of poems
like the guy in the Great Escape
marking in chalk the tally-count
of the tunnels he's dug
or like a footballer recording
caps for their country
or a competing quiz team
totalling up their score.
How should I celebrate
completing sixty poems?
I think I'll celebrate
by writing
sixty one.

You are not even in second gear yet...Go for the ton, Tom - I'm sure the projected forty will be as equally entertaining as the first sixty.
Bless ya. Thanks Dave. Here's to the ton! 🙂 Appreciated mate. Cheers, Tom.
A good sixty Tom.
Thanks a lot, Orchi. Really appreciated. 🙂
Good write
Cheers, mate. Appreciated.
The answer to your question is exactly what I was thinking. Congratulations Tom on sixty. Cheers to the next sixty and beyond. 😊👍
Cheers, AP. Thanks as always. Yeah, here's to the next sixty. And happy Friday. 🙂
Keep writing brother. Great stuff.
Thanks for that, Thomas. Really appreciated. Not quite sure what I'm doing, but I'll keep going. 🙂
Good questions posed in this write. Why are certain numbers more auspicious? And given a base 10 system why 21, 18, 12, 7, a fun read and keep on writing
Thanks a lot for your comments, Soren. Yes, a good point about the numbers thing. 🙂 Cheers. Tom.
