A beautiful tragedy

Frank Moses Phiri

In the hallowed corridors of our yesteryears' tale,
A narrative unfolded, weathered by time's gale,
Not a picturesque portrait in refined frames arrayed,
But a tapestry of broken vows, emotions swayed.

Our story, an opus of heartaches never fully mend,
Laden with whispered regrets that heavens never tend.
Yet amid the shadows of our love's twilight,
I cherished each fleeting touch, each soft goodnight.

In the hush of evening, 'neath moon's tender embrace,
I penned "I miss thee" odes, a wistful solace,
Long calls echoed through ether, a lifeline of trust,
And in stolen kisses, passion's fire robust.

But alas, as autumn's leaves fall, so too did we,
Our chapter concluded, a melancholy decree.
Now memories waltz in dim-lit halls of the past,
A tender elegy for a love that couldn't last.

Yet in these echoes of a bygone romantic lore,
A poignant truth whispers, forevermore.
For though our tale ends in sepia's faded hue,
Love's essence lingers, eternal and true.
