my heartbeat out of sync with conviction
lips tainted by sour wine
listening to Leonard Cohen renderings
sensual confessions spilled out in chords
oblique conclusions revealed
drowning in some intelligible deepness
lined in impregnable granite
impotent to break the mold
hailstones plummet relentlessly
screaming for an armistice
in this one-sided conflict
how does one put down arms
and exculpate what no longer exists?
unattainable truce exposed...
