Reality has packed it's bags
A wealth of riches swabbed in rags
The world becomes a much more daunting host
An amateur at fitting in
The uproar from a falling pin
A dragon chaser strung out on the coast
His blood lust rivals any leech
His agony way out of reach
Of all the helping hands moved by concern
He turns his back and spits distain
Graffiti sprayed on lovers lane
A lesson he will never truly learn
His comfort comes from getting high
Why would he walk when he can fly
The carefree feeling gives him such a rush
An avalanche from bitter rains
The wrap had kissed his throbbing veins
The voices in his head were told to hush
Alas it never lasts for long
He's back singing his favourite song
I'll pay you back with interest help me out
He crashed to earth without a chute
Reached for the tool kit in his boot
The temptress known as craving puffs her pout

Incredible description of the pain of addiction. To live for the high is to slowly die, and never have truly known life. Stunning my friend, sad and oh so very true. Kudos many times over.
Thank you very much Bella
Your reviews are always so insightful
And of course very much appreciated
Extremely grateful
This reminds me of a quote from the song 'Arsonist's Lullabye' by Hozier.
"All you have is your fire
And the place you need to reach
Don't you ever tame your demons
But always keep them on a leash"
And the quote, "self control is self mastery'
Learning to dance with, heal and control what haunts us can be such a daunting yet rewarding process.
Great write!
