Groaning, I rose as the east burned red
Peeking out at the world through a skull-throbbed head
Coffee steam swirls, a thought-filled shroud
The bitter brew mirrors the storm-laden cloud
Life's tangled threads, twist in its depths
Will this day bring burdens or long-awaited breaths?
Raindrops smash sorrow on the windowpane
Mirroring the ache that weighs on my brain
Suddenly, a flash of feathered delight!
A nest I spy, my heavy thoughts take flight!
With just one seed, a feathered soul
His joy complete, his heart made whole
I watch him soar, pondering life's quest
Do we need more than food and skies to be blessed...?
