Balanced Lines: A Call for Global Media Integrity

GeekSusie

In lands where liberty's bell rings loud and clear,

A novel notion whispers for all who care to hear.

Across the world where cultures richly bloom,

There lies a practice warding off gloom.

From farthest east to the western tide,

Fact-checking stands as a trusted guide.

They sift the chaff from golden grains of truth,

A discipline that renews each nation’s youth.

Oh, press of freedom, in your mighty flow,

Consider this small seed, and let it grow.

For facts are friends, not foes that we should fear,

They clear the fog, make complex stories clear.

Imagine news that walks a central line,

No left, no right, just balance by design.

A dream where facts lead every headline’s quest,

Ensuring that the public’s trust is kept.

From shore to shining shore, let’s dare to check,

And anchor our reporting on this spec.

For in this age where misinformation spreads,

Truth-checking stands to clear the way ahead.

It’s a call to arms, not with force but with the pen,

To adopt the checks that guide the global trend.

A novel idea, simple yet profound,

To lift our media from the battleground.

So, press of stars and stripes, take up this tool,

And in the forge of discourse, let it rule.

For only through the fire of fact and proof,

Can we hope to see our discourse truly move.

Oh well said . Here in Oz we, of course have fact checkers. I still reserve the right to interrogate the results and their wider implications...
