From darkness to freedom

Angela Cork

Yo, for mad decades, I battled that rage,

Straight up, face to face, no cage,

Locked eyes with evil, yo, it went insane,

Emotionally drained, nothin' left to gain.

Evil had me exhausted, no shade, no doubt,

Its shadow made me cry out, yo, scream and shout,

Stuck in a closet, lost in my own skin,

A stranger to myself, that's where I've been.

Forgettin' who I was, losin' my inner fear,

Becomin' vulnerable, weakling with a cheer,

Heartless, I fought back, unleashing my rage,

Blamin' others, pointin' fingers on that stage.

But one day reality hit me, real quick,

Lost sight of what mattered, felt like a trick,

Forgiveness, revenge, God's promises too,

That's what I needed, that's what I knew.

So I put it in God's hands, started to pray,

Overcame the darkness, found a brighter way,

For decades I struggled, but now I'm free,

Through faith and forgiv

eness, that's how it be.
