I'm Not That Girl

august16

I'm no art piece,
I'm no beauty,
So why the hell you showing me off?
Probably think you got lucky with this one,
But I'm not that girl
Who'll give you the world,

N' I see you flinch
When I take off my clothes,
N' try not to stare
At the scars I bear,
But I see your eyes
Flick from here to there,
Unable to see past my physical side.

I'm not that girl,
To watch the sun set,
Or hold your hand in the dark,
I'm not that girl,
That makes everyone head turn n' stare,
Or the girl to bring home to mom and dad,
They'd never approve of the things I've done,
Or the language I use,
I'm no prefect cherry,
Who loves when the sun rises.

And maybe I'm broken,
Unable to be fixed,
Maybe there's no cure,
For people like me.

So, ignore the red flags,
Until it was too late,
Let it spread too far,
Dug my own grave
Until my head hung low,
Disconnecting from life,
Free falling down the hill,
Low in my head
Never feeling quite at home.

I look in the mirror,
Look at my eyes,
N' realize
I don't recognize who I see,
Don't remember the girl behind the class,
N' they call me a Slut
A whore at best,
because apparently my past is my reputation,

They ask to tell em' Something about myself,
To stand nd' introduce myself,
in group,
you made me go,
I free in the spot
Unable to form a response,
Racking my brain for anything,

Cuz who the hell am I anyways?

I'm not that girl,
To watch the sun set,
Or hold your hand in the dark,
I'm not that girl,
That makes everyone head turn n' stare,
Or the girl to bring home to mom and dad,
They'd never approve of the things I've done,
Or the language I use,
I'm no prefect cherry,
Who loves when the sun rises.

 I realize
I'm not that girl you're looking for,
I'm a body with no soul,
N' u don't need this kind of pain,
Don't need no girl,
Who won't be there,
Who won't hold your hand while you cry,
Cuz, you don't know who I am,
All I ever do is pretend.
