I am sitting on my couch,
Legs crossed, arms to either side
I hold my breath, waiting for my heartbeat to subside
You are a cat, sitting on my lap
Too comfortable to move, you dig your claws in,
giving me another dose of poison
If I had plans, I would gladly ignore them,
Letting others down because my cat is asleep and chose my lap to lay on
But I don’t have plans, no activities or events
So I sit here, gradually getting more tense,
As I wait for a reason to enjoy the weight of you on my lap
But you do not lay on me, you do not even lie near me
You lying are on the floor
And I am sitting on my couch
