I Wish I Was White

mtrotter1

For being black is a struggle...I can't see myself

in the dark

The mirror breaks every time I see

My reflection in the walls

It's a hard life for me

And I want to be pretty...

Who out here feels the same way

About me?

I scream at the sky, for the sky is not

listening

And all the horrors in the world

Are just Satan...

Why Satan? Why me?

Why do you have to pick on me?

For I was once a reflection of you

And being white is just a wish,

I wish I was a white kite

Leaving the earth;

Oh my heart pours out a desperate sigh

Except when the days are long

I often linger in the skies so blue

Oh there is a love up there, somewhere.
