Osmanthus Fragrans

Samreen Firdaus

She was rejected multiple times,

'Cause of her appearance.

They judged her simplicity,

And innocence.

She was left out,

Since unfit for their criterion.

A society that always

Overlooks a rare obsidian.

She's an Osmanthus fragrans¹

In a farm of tulips,

Or a vintage boat

Among modern and elegant ships.

1. A flower that doesn't hold a gorgeous appearance but is known for its pleasant and outstanding scent.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is very close to my heart. It\\\'s for those people, especially girls, who are not necessarily pretty by appearance but have an extraordinarily beautiful heart, an empathetic soul, and a mind full of intellect.

Conventional beauty or attractiveness โ€“ nonsense which identifies the superficiality of conventional values and norms.
Mind you, I did have to utilise the magnifying power of my PC (ctrl +) to read your piece; my eyesight is not good, so perhapsโ€ฆ.
I fail to understand what the utilization of the useless 18+stamp has achieved and why.
However, all carping and cheap jokes aside, the message is clear and true. I hope to see more of your work here.
