Palms Spring

Teddy.15

Being a poet

I would almost certainly

be a fool if I didn't reflect

on why, why do I seem to be slapped so much?

I don't believe I have one of those faces

that just has to be slapped?

and it's not just on my face

but on odd parts of my body too

like my hips and my back

even when I'm walking

and in crowds, that's the worst

sometimes I even duck

so I wonder why

this happens to me on a regular basis

and then I remember

It's not me at all

It's the hand gestures

so dangerous

here in Italy.

“If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,” Some of those slaps seem a bit close to me. But probably not as bad as love bites……. Which I’d never do as I’m a vegetarian……….. Teddy.

    I think I’ve got a touch of the orchi’s coming on….. 😆

The hand gestures are truly something we should all try to avoid. lol 🌹

Don't get too close - covid's making a return trip.

Except for the handshakes, the world needs more handshaking.

        • Teddy.15

Ah we have the most wonderful handshakes too dear A.P thank you dear friend. 🌹

Humor yes but only when I got to the end. No one should be slapped around physically of emotionally. But hand gestures can bring on the wrath of others. Gave me a smile Teddy thanks for that.

            • Teddy.15

Oh no really only ever by accident and of course with an innocent hand. Of course dear sorrenbarret like I say only teasing but mostly because I am married to an Italian, I guess I'm allowed to joke about hand gestures physically touching others. I guess I may need to go on stage for this one. lol 🌹

Dear Teddy, there is humour in this poem of yours but I also detect a little something else too. I too experience those little slaps from time to time, so you aren’t alone. Your posted pic of Italy is gorgeous. Have a beautiful weekend.

              • Teddy.15

This is in pure fun dear Cassie, I hope you detected warm love and humour. Palms do spring here that's for sure. Happy Saturday dear Cassie. thank you so much for coming by. 🌹

Italy is definitely on my list of places I have you to visit and now you've made it sound even more fun!
I'd fit right in and my hands never stay still!
                Happy Friday
                Have a wonderful weekend

Coming from an Italian family, I know that there seem to be no boundaries when it comes to physical expression, it's in the genes. This poem is too much fun and too true.

                  • Teddy.15

LoL yes indeed palms do spring, all out of passion of course. Thank you again dear Bella, always wonderful to see you. 🌹
