(short/untitled 1)

I stood still

            My face lifted skyward

Leaning onto the balls of my feet

As though ready to lift off

            Into the night air

And I smiled, then,

            Opening my eyes to

            Greet the stars

            And then opening

            My mouth

To sing a song back to them

The more you are quiet,

The more you notice how everything sings

And you can stop making so much rude noise

And learn instead how to sing along with

            And for them
