Echoes

Samreen Firdaus

Let's walk in the rain

Oh, my heart!

Like the heat,

Let's dissolve in the drops.

Let's melt in the clouds

Or the wind

Let's go with the tint

On cheeks

That fades gradually

in the end.

Let's run for the door

On a trail

That leads right to a dear tale.

Let's swirl in the book, loves us

Let's laugh,

Hold the hands,

Break the curse.

Let's leave for a place

Or a niche

Devoid of grief,

Harsh tones,

Full of peace.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I composed this poem in a disheartening moment when I really wanted to vanish in my favourite pieces of nature or the emotions that are so very dear to me, like my favourite books— I don't consider them a concrete thing since books are true emotions and sentiments for me.
