Feeling Faith

Charlotte3

I have these emotions that follow the pattern of life’s tide,

He gave me these emotions yes but I often wonder why?

The waves come crashing in, and I feel His presence at the shore,

But then the waves draw back and I can’t see, hear or feel Him anymore.

I hold onto my faith that the next wave brings us close again,

So that I can feel Him close before His presence is taken.

My child he calls out do you not realise I am always here,

I did not give you these emotions to indicate when I am near.

Faith is knowing His presence is there even when you can’t feel Him,

Because Faith is a firm foundation and is not a feeling.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem based from Matthew 14: 30-33 where Jesus calls for peter to walk out on the water in faith, and also from Luke 5: 4-6 where Jesus fills the fishing net up once again in faith. I wanted to link where both times, Simon's emotions and doubt pulled him from his walk with God because that is where he based his faith. Faith is knowing God is there all the time.
