martyrs

Bicicletta

to all the martyrs
of the
          Revolution,
did you sacrifice
your
          lives
for the Revolution
to be
          unfinished
and longest running?
for an eventual
          human existence
where
it is easier to imagine the end of the world
than it is to imagine the end of capitalism?
and must
          my heart
eternally
          bleed
each day,
each year
for a new
          martyr?

A new martyr for whom it can only ultimately be conjectured that their effort resulted in…..nothing?
Your lines “it is easier to imagine the end of the world
than it is to imagine the end of capitalism?” have an appropriate level of sting, I feel.

Thank you very much for the observations.

Apologies - it was once the habit of folks here to welcome newcomers to MPS. Seems to not happen as often as it should recently. So here, for what it is worth -Welcome. Please feel free to engage with others here if you feel they are worthy of your attention. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
