Dare to open a Book

Isa

Dear gracious reader,
I hope you are a listener
for i have a tale so short yet moral
of books like a glass painted mural.
Books takes you places where one can hardly imagine
transports you from headaches and migraines to
rapid heartbeats and blushed cheeks.
Books surrounds you with friends or with foes,
both you know nothing of till you opened that hardcover.
It leads you to fatal nightmares and crushed dreams,
a delusion so far off that a therapist is of no help.
Book boyfriends taunt you when you're in the real world
because they know you know that no real man is like them.
Dear gracious reader,
do you dare to be an envisioner?
to take trips so far that one can not?
to learn and grow with characters of great honor?
While knowing its all a facade
of your made up arcade.
Do you dare to love like Jacks,
or hate like Jude?
Dear gracious reader, I ask you once more,
do you dare to open a book?
