Mutley - I believe you may be referring to the red back or black widow, which would pin your location; but your reference to a massive spider makes me fearful for the good old huntsman.
A neat rich write.
If I ever see a huntsman I'll probably run a mile! (Even though I wouldn't need to. Fear, oh dear....)
