Corrosive Love

COGNOVA

If staying means sinking into depression's embrace,
Leaving isn't my choice but my only saving grace.
His lack of effort reveals I'm not the one,
Yet in my heart, he could have been the sun.

Promises made, all I hear is echos
Leaving me wondering if his love is true.
His heart distant, his affection a guise,
In this cruel uncertainty, my spirit slowly dies.

His view obscured by shadows from the past,
My bleeding heart in hand, driving me to the darkness of his doubts.
Shielding his own, yet wounding mine,
Hurting us both, in this cruel design.

Before my spirit breaks, and love turns dormant,
I pray one day the walls he's built will fade,
But for now, I must go,
For my heart can't withstand another blight of despair.

To leave or to stay,
Forced to decide in a battle not my own.
Depart and be broken,
Or remain and withness the final blow.

My heart might just turn to stone, and only then...
Will I understand the emptiness you've known all along.
