Pearls

John Lee

It's so hard to think you're near,

when too long you've felt so far.

I've been calling, can you hear?

I've been searching in the dark.

The distance echos your plea,

I can't stand for I'm too weak.

Can I lift my eyes?

Have you heard my cries?

Tomorrow's gone from yesterday,

There's nothing left but us to pray.

Why do I stay inside this cage?

There's nothing left for me to pay.

Just closed my eyes to this world.

Holding on to my own pearls.

Casting them to only you,

Lord you're the only one true.

    That's it.

Sometimes, it takes the silence to truly hear.
