Monster

Laguna

We all imagine the monsters under our bed differently.

Yours may intoxicate you with the bloodlust in his red eyes,

But my monster found me in the midst of the ocean,

And I looked to the waves in his blue eyes to help me survive.

My monster wasn’t like yours,

For the sight of him was beautiful,

Even the sun couldn’t bring itself to kiss his skin.

My monster took my hand for a dance in the dark,

While the moon wept in warning of my tragic fate,

But the music of the night simply took its course,

And the moon melted itself into the black sky once more.

My monster may have once shown me heaven on earth,

But he soon brought hell to me as fast as he took me out of it.
