Self-Portrait

MA-Q

I am invisible, the headless orphan flying

like a golden seraphim.

My wings of electric wool,

My talons of invincible cotton.

I am a formless cloud with the smile

of a metallic rainbow.

As I walk, the stones buried in the streets

grow hair,

the toads gather to pray for rain,

mosquitos die in my blood,

my sad iron strikes them dead.

Everything is gathering its strength,

jaguars are jumping out of the ocean

and my own foolishness headbutts the immovable mountains.

But I am the immovable mountains!

I am the ant

with a crown that glitters like a spider web covered with dew.

I feel myself dead, as if on the verge of being born.

blossoming like a flaming azalea

watching the cars speed by

the bloated eyes of a dead deer.
