Smoke signals

sorenbarrett

Raising dust smoke we are

spreading our ashes near and far

swirling carbon in still air

caught by a breeze taken to a place more fair

We're nothing more than burning coals

our essence heavenward rolls

far from the fire that burns

released liberty gravity spurns

Covering both face and hands

black messages in dark bands and sooty strands

charcoal word clouds carried to other lands

smoke poems no one understands

Ah, your last lines made me chuckle 🤭 wonderful imagery, a poem can be interpreted in which ever way the reader may see it. That's why I simply love poetry. 🌹
