To Be

dandelion.drafts

You are to me…

A warm hearth –

Cozy light

Daily food

Adored and simple magic

Which is the best kind

An unforgettable, half-remembered song –

Notes I find myself humming

Guitar strings I play

Joyfully      Curiously     Recklessly

Tenderly      Sometimes angrily      Other times-

Abashed in my needfulness

Always                 And never enough

A favorite handmade patchwork quilt

Soft when I need to be held

Able to cover when I am cold

And tired

A beauty I cannot name

A strength I could not replicate

A wind I could not hold

Beyond and here

Unknowable and intimately seen

Priceless and lightly held

You are to me…

Because I have learned to be

Years I have spent, learning

To love and be loved

And how happy it is

That we have found each other

In this stupid, big world

And can remind each other

To be
