Served As Is

bobfallon

I've got no silver platter

not that that would matter

to you

who prefer gold

there's nothing to put on it

nothing you've not gotten already,

garages with elevators are

what's popular, what's in,

what's tinted, what's tainted,

what's the matter,

what concerns you the most,

a roof,

a bed,

a meal a day,

the day is enough,

without gunfire even better,

what's the matter,

can it be the weather,

weather that makes a sweater,

sweaters are the last to need a sweater,

sweaters know better than anyone how to bear the heat,

snowballs,

this wave,

the way the tide is turning,

burning leaves ashes,

closer to atoms as matter,

that fact matters,

fire ends life as we know it,

not so much ice,

which didn't quite extinguish it

last time,

that's life,

all there is to it,

no silver platters that ever mattered.
