I was the type of creature,
That held onto things to taut,
Unable to quietus my hold,
When it no longer harmonized,
And gave me blisters,
I always thought holding on,
Was worth all the pain & suffering,
I used to contemplate that losing things,
I'd lose part of myself as well,
Slowly I'd become somebody,
My heart no longer understood
That one day something transpired,
I dropped what I held dear,
My soul became so much lighter,
Rather than being filled with fear
It taught my heart that some things,
Are not intended to last forever,
But arrived to teach you divination,
And continue on
You don't have to cling to people,
Who no longer make you smile,
Or do something you've come to loathe,
That sometimes the thing you're fighting for,
Isn't worth the cost
Not all in life you ever lose,
Is fated to be a loss

Sometimes a loss is a good thing. Losing a bad relationship is one of those things. We must always consider ourselves as first priority and not endure hardship, abuse, or fear, just to save a relationship. Your poem is very well spoken and wise in its conclusions. - Phil A.
