Overmedicated

moonwriting

You found me when I was falling infinitely

Gave me an out away from reality

Your poison giving me a new distraction

The warmth of your lies granted my naive satisfaction

Then you became the thing I wanted to think the least of

I miss the pleasure you replaced my pain with

But eventually I asked if you love me, you pleaded the fifth

My bottle of you echos empty

No longer eligible for a refill

Withdrawals are real

  • Comment from author about the poem: Revised piece of something I wrote in 2022. I lost a childhood friend and two weeks later my partner left unexpectedly after celebrating our anniversary. Leave honest feedback! I used this website back when I was in high school. Now I am 23 and still want to improve!
