One to Five

Maplespal

one breath echoes through the halls

one step vibrates through the walls

one door between our eyes

on locked knob he tries

two differential views at odds end

two individuals, one attack, the other defend

two floors and safety can be reached

two strong kicks, room almost breached

three windows, all equally the same

three steps and we can end this game

three layers, two glass, one screen

three people below, waving to be seen

four shoulders, open comes the door

four shots, I dropped to the floor

four guards jumped him from behind

four ribs broken, left eye now blind

five months recovery time

five times five years for his crime

five victims, therapy bound

five others never found
