I don’t ever want to hear you say that again,
That you’re thinking about giving up just because things look like they are going to end.
You can’t give in just because things don’t look like the way you thought,
And all of the pain that you are in has left your stomach in knots.
But you know you’re tough, and you’ve been down this road before,
And it is up to you to remember what it is that you are fighting for.
When you started this journey, you knew that it was not going to be an easy task,
And no one knows the story of the person who is hidden behind the mask.
The person who never lets anyone in,
The person who is trying to change the way that things have been.
The person who always seems to read things wrong,
The person who has never quit felt like they belonged.
The person who kept going when nothing was going right,
The person who knew they had to keep fighting, even when it seemed like there was no end in
sight.
The person who did it with a smile and grace,
The person who knew they were going to finish the race.
Maybe they thought there was a chance that they wouldn’t win,
But they knew that no matter what, there was no way that they were going to give in.
And sometimes you still hear that little voice coming back,
That reminds you of everything you aren’t and all of the skills that you lack.
Even when that voice comes back and reminds you of everything you are not,
You have to remind yourself of every battle that you have fought.
How you kept going, even when the odds were not in your favor,
And you stayed strong, even when your mind was causing your feelings to waver.
No matter what happens, I don’t ever want to hear you say,
That you need to give up because you know you can take it one more day.
