A Storm Passed

Maplespal

the rain falls and bounces off the ground

the splashing is a reoccurring steady beat

the puddles muffle the ongoing sound

each drop falls and touches the concrete

the distorted sounds of the drains flow

water glides down the sidewalks curb

each droplet captured, taken to the hole

the thunder, my thoughts it disturbs

the lightening flashed and awoken my sight

to the branches that laid across the street

a terrible storm passed by us last night

still that sound of rain is on constant repeat

the weather does not stop the ongoing day

I still had to leave and drive to my jobs place

the normal, “love you babe” I always  say

It was the starting time I had to chase

the roads had its obstacles, I had to swerve

damage done to most houses I passed

this drive of mine, it strained my nerves

constant wiping of my windshield glass

into the parking lot I turned with glee

not the first to have arrived at the site

there was my boss with his large coffee

I am stuck here until tonight.

A story that could be a metaphor as well. Great imagery in this write.
