Clepsydra

A Boy With Roses

I'm trying to get back to you
Letting go of Heaven
That rose garden called Time

I put my memories in a box
Tied with withered rhymes
And placed it where my childhood died

In the deep end of love alluring
Sworn to be true, where youth is fossilized
I am amiss, sensual with envious tears

Every so often I go back there
I marvel at the trees and how they're grown
And listen to the water flowing

The warm alcohol in my bloodstream
Dying like a body with no hope
The tips of the grass blades are warm with suicide

Now I am weaker than a mouth full of blood
Racing horses through visions of candytuft
I look at the stars but they don't shine

Oh, frog of desire
Oh, river of temptation
Unwind with fury and dreams

This room dances with disharmony
Stained with resentment
As delicate as summer slipping by

I cannot resist it
Love in the moonlight
Excalibur, nostalgia cuts deeper

Than a sinking ship cutting through ice
So I wait for you at night
Eternity in all its glory, remember the songs

Evermore, my boyish charm
The rage in my eyes
Kissing you with addictions.
