She's Dead

13LaurenD

Everyone who knew me before has to get to know me again,

Because the image that you have of me in your head has come to an end.

The girl who once cared about people too much isn’t here anymore,

Because that girl was full of sorrow and regrets, and was tired of being left sore.

The soreness that she had was not the kind that went away overnight,

But the kind that lingered on, because she constantly felt like she was never doing anything right.

She tried her best to be good enough to make sure that someone would actually stay around,

And to find just one person who would be there for her, and wouldn’t let her down.

This time was the last time that she allowed something like this to occur,

And she knows that she can not allow herself to go back to the way that things once were.

Because at this point, she realized that none of them are worth it,

And she doesn’t think that she is able to take another hit.

Everytime she allows herself to be a little happy, in a second it is taken away,

And at this point, there is nothing left for her to say.

That maybe as bad as she wants to believe it is, it is just not apart of her plan,

And she needs to focus on her future and her goals, and stop looking for love in a man.

These people that keep disappointing her really just aren’t worth it,

And no matter how hard she tries, it just never seems to be the correct fit.

Maybe this keeps happening because she has a calling that means more than just finding love,

And maybe she needs to be reminded that with every rejection, comes a blessing from above.

Not a single one has been special, and none of them were worth the tears that she shed,

Especially when they led her down a negative path of terrible thoughts spiraling in her head.

I am moving on, and I am finally letting all of it go,

And even when it gets hard, I will never let those feelings show.

That girl that once cared too much is now long gone,

And she is finally going to allow herself to be the queen, and she is done playing as the pawn.

In your stupid little game of chess, that was really never worth it to begin with,

And now if you ask her if any of it bothers her, she is going to choose to plead the fifth.

So now, allow me to reintroduce myself, because the girl you are looking for is dead,

But she has some karma to serve, because she still remembers every word that was said.
