you love lions

dandelion.drafts

You want a lioness, but I

Am a butterfly:

You want sharp claws,

Not thin velvet wings

You want power

Racing across the plains, not

Fragility

Fluttering from blossom to blossom

You want a predator,

Not prey

I wish I were a lioness, too

But could it not be enough

To feed the flowers and rest

Languidly

In the faded sunlight of day's end?

To flit through life with

Such gentle wonder?

To be here and then gone,

With relish and

A cacophony of colors?
