poor puppy

Maplespal

it was left laying on the ground

it was something left to be found

how is it that it is just laying around

this thing laying here, it is so profound

do I pick it up or just turn around?,

or walk away and make no sound?

someone's puppy, it laid there drowned

I looked and saw that there was nobody around

backing away I returned to the campground

informed the staff and laid myself down

the puppy was put to rest underground

A sad story told in verse that all comes back to the same place death and burial. Continual rhyme gives it an urgent feel. Good work

Love the rhyming scheme of this poem, it flows so well to tell this unfortunate story. I came across a fox that had been hit by a car in our subdivision on an early morning walk, and I can understand the feeling of disbelief when you find somethig such as this, dead in your path. It was good that it was put to rest. And a very good write my friend.
