Sex well done

sorenbarrett

Recipe for life despised as sin

Ingredients revised by religion

Cooked in hell fire seasoned with hate

Served overdone on a priest's plate

Tender hearts stewed and fried

with a sauce of freedom's suicide

Sweet meats are not allowed

Salted treats picked from a cloud

An old cookbook served as the model

nature's wonders to pickle and bottle

Cooked without gas, flame or electric power

Cake for the mass' to devour

The fear of God taught by the precepts of men:

    • sorenbarrett

Thanks 2781 for the read and comment. Could it be the fear of men taught by the precepts of God?

That we must find for ourselves.

As I ponder the worlds population….. but many arrived not without the inhibitions, condemnation and rest of the strictures you’ve identified Soren.
          ‘Shame!

          • sorenbarrett

Thank you Dave for the read and comment it is appreciated. Many reasons for sexual control but sad that it is identified as sinful when it should be celebrated as natural and joyful

              Hear Hear, Soren.

Funny how some people want to turn Nature's most powerful emotion into a sin. We kill each other in wars, but that's O.K. by most religions.
Sorry, your poem is to blame for my little rant, which means it was very powerful. Well done. - Phil A.

Having been a Catholic School girl I can relate. In late grade school and even high school, we were fed a healthy diet of shame and guilt, culminating in paranoia about anything sexual. I'd laugh and say it probably led to PTSD, but actually it's not funny. You hit the provoberial nail on the head with this one.

                        • sorenbarrett

Thank you so much Bella for the read and comment your visits are always so welcome and appreciated.

Sujata, who is said to have fed Gautama Buddha a bowl of kheer, a milk-rice pudding, ending his six years of asceticism.

I understand your sentiment. However, I am religious and have no problem with others' opinions or beliefs differing from my own. Within my own family everything exists from paganism, Catholicism, new-age, fundamentalist Christianity, Baha'i, Satanism and non-theism. We get along and love each other because we try to practice the best of what we believe. Enjoyed your poem or should I say thesis? God created sex to be enjoyed.

                          • sorenbarrett

Thanks for the read and comment. Yes respect your and all others beliefs. Yes it is just my point of view as are all my poems. Don't mean to offend and am only saying that sex is part of nature and that it took man to create restrictions that are artificial to nature. Best wishes

                            • Thoughtless

I am not offended. I simply wanted to share. Thank you.
