Break The Cycle

You know you need to change your habits that shape who you are everyday,

Because deep down you know there is no other way.

But it is so hard to let go of something that has been apart of you for so long,

And trying to move on and let it go just feels so wrong.

You know in the end, it is going to bo what is right,

And it will help you turn around even your darkest nights.

Along the way, your mind is going to tell you that you need that comfort once again,

But you know it is only going to hurt you even more in the end.

You have been battling these battles for so long, and it has not gotten you anywhere,

And sometimes it makes you question everything, and realize that life is not fair.

But sitting there and wondering ‘why me?’ is not going to get you very far,

And one day you will look back and be thankful for every scar.

All of it needed to happen to get you to where you want to be,

And you need to remember that it is not an easy walk when becoming the best version of me.

Going back to what you know has only spiraled and made everything worse.

You know that if you keep singing the chorus, then you are never going to make it to the next 

verse.

The devil is what is inside of you that is trying to hold you back,

And he is constantly there to remind you of all of the skills that you seem to lack.

Even when he is trying his best, there is something inside of you that won’t let that spark die,

And everytime that you keep reliving those bad habits, you are barely just scraping by.

When you start, eventually those habits will no longer be comforting to you,

Because they can no longer remind you of everything that you have been through.

You have the power to change,

Even when it feels discomforting and strange.

You have the story that one day will inspire others,

Because you kept going, even when you felt like you were being smothered. 

When things get hard, you can be the one to stop going round and round in that wheel,

And one day you will look back, and all of those dreams will finally be real.
