Gentle

mtrotter1

Shall I give you permission to persuade me

To give in to your petty yearnings?

For I am gentle as a log

In the middle of the forest

And I fear many things

For many things are gentle

And love is as gentle as a child's needs

For a child's needs are simple;

I am a child, and I am simple

Give me a bird and I shall let it fly

For gentle is the word

That soothes all things

Even the simplest things

Soothes all things

This wild heart you hope to persuade,

Is it gentle enough to give in?

For your petty yearnings I must defy

Hold me in your arms, and I shall sink!

Sink, sink into those desperate woes

Who knows what shall come for me again?

Gentle as a bird, gentle as soothing water

I find this romance to be a challenge

A gentle rose, a gentle touch

Do you even miss me much?

For I write your name

On the walls of cement,

How tough is gentle now?
