Put It Down

Mason Vollman

When Jesus looks upon the earth,

Think He sheds a tear?

We're rushing around mindlessly,

No sense to fear.

All would be okay,

if we could text our prayers to Him.

Perhaps the computer would do,

Though the chance is slim.

No need for prayer,

Our answer is on the net.

If it's not there,

It's nowhere we'd bet.

Personal contact,

No need for that.

Computers and cell phones are where it's at.

In the next life,

Will they be there to assist?

Without a spiritual voice,

How will you exist?

Turn the computer off,

Put the cell phone down.

Time to fold your hands,

Place your knees upon the ground.

  • Comment from author about the poem: "To the individual who is reading this, please quit overthinking everything, every day and night. Stop obsessing over your failures, Stop doubting yourself, and seeing the greatness in everyone else but you. You are better than that, you deserve more. Start showing up differently to yourself, believe in yourself, God won't ever hand you something you can't handle. You are a star in this world, may God Bless you."

Nicely said. Self belief is important indeed.

Great work, Mason. This Iron Age won’t last forever. Thank God.

I wish I had some of your optimism. I see too much of the people as sheep, and I'm probably insulting the actual sheep.
