Sorrow

MendedFences27

Sorrow

When all the tears have been shed

nothing remains except the emptiness

like the coldness of space, or a breathlessness

filling your head with panic, shame, and dread.

When all the family have left

and no one remains but you

like an astronaut in space, or a broken rendezvous

making your heart lonesome, isolated, and bereft.

When all the help-books have been read

nothing remains except confusion

like a fork in the road, or a delusion

your mind is lost, spinning, and brain dead.

When all the lawyers have been paid

nothing remains but the settlement

like who has the kids, or who pays the rent

leaving you frayed, played, and betrayed.

When all the promises are broken

Nothing remains but nasty words spoken

Like “Damn you,” “Asshole’ and the kids are woken

You leave, with nothing except pride, but it will all soak in.

Just like when all the wood is burned all that is left is ashes. Sad commentary on society and life

Thanks SB, It was a poem about the loss of a loved one, so it was sad.

Thanks, Neville. I usually get stuck to the word "Glue." Thanks for liking my poetry. Your encouragement keeps me going. Many thanks.

You have put into words the great sorrow of loss, be it death of a loved one, or death of a relationship, with a rhyming pattern that stitches it together seamlessly. So sad, yet so beautiful in its expression.

Thanks, Bella. Many forms of sorrow, I tried to focus on the loss of someone who is loved. Thank you for your kind words and perceptive insight.

The tragedy of Divorce lawyers and all, dear Phil, my friend has recently been through this and I have seen how it's effected her, a deeply sad poem, but so very relevant and relatable to so many, it's a hard world to live in some forms of sorrow are so very worse than others, I take my hat off to you for this because if all that's left is pride well that's not too shabby, some don't even get to keep that. A heartfelt read Sir. 🌹

Thank you, Teddy 15. First you love someone and then you lose them, no matter how, and you're left to deal with the sorrow. It will change your life...forever.
            Thanks again.

It happened to.me in my very early 20's at the time I wasn't sure I could survive without him although it wasn't divorce it was definitely my soulmate ,but then in my late 30's I wrote the poem, "My Nevada", I wouldn't want to go through that type of pain and anxiety two times in my life. My heart goes out to anyone feeling that lost and angry and hurt. 💙

Sometimes I find it hard to describe lost love, you have done a fine job.

Thanks, Dan. Love is a mystical phenomenon.
