Patience

mtrotter1

Being sober is a gift,

But will the sun ever shine again?

For I see heartbroken trees in misery

And I see broken flowers standing in the rain

But there is love

And there is hope

I don't have to be a broken rag doll forever

Behold the depression junkie that is me

For I am depressed all the time

Yet I am smiling on the outside,

Will the sun ever shine for me again?

For tomorrow is just another day

And another day is just tomorrow

I reckon I would have no more sorrows

And today I am living, living for today

It's so sad that sober people have to be aware

Though I have a chance in life to be somebody

I will still fear the world unknown

For temptation can kill the child

Who wants to be sober

But patience is a mighty virtue, so I've heard

Yet we are all children of temptation,

For temptation springs forth

Like a burning bud

Behold the silent triggers

That reveal one's weakness

I'd rather hold on to hope

Than to have nothing at all,

For patience is my only friend.
