Parking Lot Thoughts

Cocamedo

A day like today
Lifeless and dreary
The grey, it covers everything
Expecting to be weary

Sad songs repeat
On worn out old speakers
Mud is flaking off the sides
These dusty faded sneakers

The bees aren’t buzzing
The birds aren’t singing
The telephone
Is all but ringing

Cobwebs fill up every crack
Clinging on the windowsill
Nothing but the dying grass
Sits lifelessly on top the hill

But something is amiss, I say
Despair has been forgotten
Something sits inside my head
Resting on the cotton

The light still shines throughout it all
Astounding and Surrounding
Covering my soul and spirit
The feeling is resounding

Trumpets sound for only me
Oh, it’s something to behold
Fireworks only I can see
Of green and red, of blue and gold

The sun behind the clouds unnoticed
Thoughts of my desire
Warming up my heart and hands
Like sitting by the fire

What magic is creating this?
So powerful, so true
It’s simply just the love I feel
When thinking about you

Sweet and cute this poem makes use of great imagery to create its mood. Nicely done.
