Field of Ashes

John Lee

Life's journey is fraught with heartache and even shame.

Our world burns down without knowing what lit the flame.

No one helps when people flee at the sight of smoke,

You cry out but with lungs full of fumes, you choke.

God gives us tears to fall as rain,

They rinse down the sting of the pain.

As we watch the structure of our world crumble,

We learn it's a process to become humble.

So when you're standing in a field of ashes,

May you understand that everything passes.

Well written and very poetic in its imagery. There are several great lines in this piece.
