Liquid Courage

Laguna

Courage flows through my redness of my veins,
like a downpour of wine into the glass in your hand.

You drink your liquid courage in hopes to find depth,
filling your empty soul to the brim.
I peer into you and find nothingness in black and white,
the darkest night known to mankind,
and the brightest light that lured me to hell,
for I mistook the gleam of your eyes for heaven.

I'll pour you a glass of liquid courage,
wine as red as the blood you've splattered on the wall after I entrusted you with my heart.
One sip will lend you the courage to look me in the eyes,
and finally you will discover the evidence you left behind of your sins.
