I'm Selfish

For the first time in my life, I am not worrying about anyone else,

Because I have taken care of everyone else for so long, and put my own priorities up on a shelf.

I am no longer going to put others ahead of me anymore,

Because I finally realized that I am the only one that I should be fighting for. 

You letting me down was the last time anyone will do that to me again,

Because from here on out, I am going to fight, and I am not going to stop until I reach the end.

People like you like to be fake and pretend that you care,

And you walking out of my life was actually answering all of my prayers.

I do not need people like you in my life,

Because the whole time I thought you were kind, but you were actually the one holding the 

knife.

Just like everyone else, you have let me down,

But the only difference is that this time I am not staying on the ground.

People like you would love me to give you that satisfaction, 

But for the first time in my life, I am bouncing back, and I am going to take action.

Instead of getting upset, I am just going to add you to my list of names,

And when it backfires on you, you will only have yourself to blame.

I know you think you broke me, but you could not be more wrong,

And I am finally going to show what I have had inside of me all along.

The power to bounce back from anything that I have been through,

And to show that I will always be alright, no matter what you try to do.

For the rest of this year, I am reminding myself that this is my time,

And I am coming for everything that I know is meant to be mine.

You could have been a part of this, but now you just have to sit back and watch me win,

And I am never going to go back to the way that things had been.

When I get to where I want to be, you are not welcome to be apart of this,

Because you had your chance, but you decided to take a swing and miss.

I need to reintroduce myself, because you are not going to recognize me,

And I am never going to go back to the way that thing used to be.

This is my time to go after everything that they said I would never be able to get,

And I know it is going to happen, even if I am not there yet.
