To My Sister: 姐姐

Olive Anderson

Our imaginations took us on adventures

Summer days spent together in the backyard

Adventures we trekked upon

Mud baths while we baked in the hot sun

Long afternoons of monopoly we played

As we got older there came a divide

Awkward teenage years of flying hormones,

And maybe the occasional flying fist

But all that didn’t matter

Because I have loved you always

Coming out of the teen years,

The divide had began to shift

The current has began to subdue

Now we can look to each other in ( somewhat ) peace

I am appreciative of our 2am shari's trip(s),

All of our Long talks that could last a lifetime,

Or our long drives with no destination

I could not have asked for a better sister

She is a giver of thoughtfulness

She is a giver of wisdom

She is a giver of a good ear

She is a giver of truth

She is you.

A fine tribute to your sister. Brimful of love and gratitude. I am extra blessed, I have two sisters. A lovely read.

I can relate to your poem. I have three sisters, and I do have many memories of us sharing things. But you're blessed, my friend, you have a unique sister indeed.
