The Porch Light is On

Cocamedo

What we have built
Cannot be replaced
Memories surround us
Warm like a fire
That never goes out

Weeks of cold rain
Can make you forget the warmth
Clothes soaked in sadness
We lost our way home
Drenched in loneliness

Blaming each other
For the storm around us
Forgetting that we had
Umbrellas in our hands
Unopened

Now the rain has stopped
The fire still burning
Love fills the air
Like birds in the forest
Or bacon in the morning

Where did you go
We both got lost
There is a light leading me back home
Can you see it too?
I hope to meet you there

A wonderful metaphor and the use of vivid images some of which are metaphors themselves. Very nicely written
