When I See You Again

Skaar

And when I see you again,
I may not look your way,
But I'll smile still,
Smile as I walk away.
And I'll thank you,
Thank you for everything,
Albeit  just in my sentiments.
Surely, I’ll be trying my best,
To hold off my betraying self-esteem,
Indecisively making sure,
That I can’t let you be mine again.
So, when I see you again,
Hopefully you won’t be offended no more,
Since there won’t be no room for amends,
As I walk away.
Because I'll look away still,
But for once, maybe I'll smile again.

Seldom is repetition of phrases effective in my view but this is one of the exceptions. Nicely worded this poem is powerful in its message,
