Vegas

Jeffery Lee Palmer

Taking a break from the sights

a flawless transition from day to night

we watch the pretty city lights

the reflection from your eyes

as I hold you close and kiss your lips

I won over with a promise

to care for and love you forever

we thought this through we were never

easy to pull the trigger

the flowers on your dress

safe for me to caress

but thorns for other men

Your body is my to hold

I sometimes feel I'm too bold

but your laugh and smile

reassure me, that I fit your style

The buildings tower up so high

love requires a leap from a greater height

no matter the distance be it thousands

of miles away or even lightyears

nothing can stop me, your signal is all I hear

that vacant space in your bed

your pillow ready for my head

a warm body and arms ready

to hold you forever and always

heartbeat to heartbeat an eternal fire

You are my only desire

Empty your heart of any doubt

you are the one I cannot live without
